Hi, I'm Carly...

Carly Wizeman

C.A.L.T. | Certified Academic Language Therapist

I spent the beginning part of my career as a K–2 classroom teacher, but my favorite part of the day was always small group reading. Watching a struggling reader finally click, finally feel successful, was what kept me coming back.

One day I noticed the dyslexia specialist on my campus and got curious. I asked if I could watch one of her lessons. She said yes. That one conversation changed everything.

She connected me with her supervisor, who not only pointed me toward specialized training, but she also offered to pay for it. I said yes immediately. The next year, a new school opened, I applied for the dyslexia therapist position, and I got it.

But I didn't stop there. I wanted to go deeper, so I pursued my CALT certification. Hundreds of hours of training, practicum, and a rigorous exam. It was worth every bit of it.

Eventually I became my campus literacy coach while continuing as a dyslexia therapist, because I realized that helping teachers meant I could reach far more kids than I ever could one-on-one. During that time I wrote the phonics curriculum for kindergarten and first grade that was adopted across the district.

Then it got personal.

My daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia in first grade. She received support from the campus specialist for one year while in public school. For the past two years we've been homeschooling, and I've been putting everything I know to work for her every single day.

That's why I created these resources. Not just because I have the credentials, but because I've been on every side of this: the classroom teacher, the specialist, the coach, and the parent sitting at the kitchen table trying to help her own kid read.

You deserve access to knowledge and tools that actually work. That's what I'm here for.
